Cemetery offering free burials of cremated remains Nov 2nd

In honor of All Souls Day November 2nd, Mt. Carmel Cemetery is offering free burials of cremated remains.

“Last year, we had about 100 families who were able to properly bury their loved ones,” said Jorge Vergen, Dir., Catholic Properties.

Bishop Mark J. Seitz will offer a funeral mass at the cemetery at 10 a.m. at Mt. Carmel on Nov.2.  It will take place in front of the office and burial will proceed after Mass.

“This is not a mass grave,” said Vergen. ”Each individual will have a dignified plot of their own.”  A temporary nameplate will then be placed on the site.

The public must make arrangements with the cemetery prior to burial to ensure enough space is allotted.

The deadline to make arrangments is Oct. 30. Call Mt. Carmel Cemetery at (915) 860-0606.
