Columban Mission Center offers ‘Alternative Black Friday’ sale

As tens of thousands of El Pasoans get ready to rush the stores this holiday weekend, one group hopes they’ll make their store a first stop.

The El Paso Columba Mission Center ( 816 Magoffin) is offering an ‘Alternative Black Friday’ sale; asking shoppers to ‘think outside the big box stores.’ With every purchase of a Christmas gift, the benefit from those sales goes to those workers who produced the goods.

In a release, the center says their Fair Trade items support families in Mexico and around the globe.

Shoppers can select gifts from women’s cooperatives at the border, Catholic Relief Services “Work of Human Hands” project and other grassroots organizations.  The sale is set to run this Friday, from  9 a.m.—2 p.m, at the Columban Mission Center 816 Magoffin.

Shoppers are reminded that some items for sale can only be purchased with cash or checks.
