El Paso High Celebrates 100 Years of Excellence in Sports Tonight

As El Paso High School celebrates its 100th Anneversary, the public is invited for the second in the El Paso The High School Centennial Legacy series: 100 Years of Excellence in Sports.  The presentation is set to start at 7:00 p.m. in the El Paso High School Auditorium (800 E. Schuster Ave.)  Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The program will feature a parade of former varsity athletes, cheerleaders, trainers, and beloved former coaches, all returning to their alma mater to participate in the parade. Four decades of cheerleaders will be represented and eight decades of athletes.

State champions such as Bobby Goldfarb (1944) and cheerleader Martha Lou Florence Broaddus (1957) will participate in the fun filled event. Current EPHS coaches will join in as well.

The program will feature Sandy Aaronson, class of 1964, member of the Golf Hall of Fame speaking about the history of women’s sports and Ray Sanchez, class of 1945, renowned sports writer, will cover men’s sports through the decades.

The EPHS Pep Band will lead the Fight Song and cheers will be led by an alumni cheering squad.  An encore reception will follow the performance.
