Employees in the El Paso Independent School District showed their support for students and teachers by donating more than $20,000 in pledges to the EPISD Education Foundation during the 2015-16 Employee Giving Campaign.
The campaign, which ended Friday and asked employees to give one-time or recurring donations to the Foundation, raised a total of $20,331.
“We are so grateful for the overwhelming support of our campuses and Central Office staff,” said Foundation President Russell Wiggs. “This year’s campaign marks the largest amount of contributions by EPISD employees. It shows that our teachers and staff believe in the work we do.”
Mesita Elementary employees contributed the most amount of money to the campaign with $1,716 and took top prize in the campus competition. The prize consists of $1,500 in merchandise from Adventures in Learning.
Brown Middle School, which came in third in last year’s Employee Giving contest, came in second with $1,293. Each of the employees making a contribution will receive a family 4-pack for Wet N Wild Waterworld.
Both campuses contributed more than the $1,000 minimum to receive a prize.
Money raised from the Employee Giving Campaign goes towards funding scholarships for graduating seniors and Classroom Impact Grants for teachers to do innovative projects in their classrooms.
Scholarship applications will be available on-line beginning in mid December. Teachers interested in applying for Classroom Impact Grants can apply on-line in January.
Employees interested in making a contribution can still do so by credit card on the foundation.episd.org website under donate or by check to the EPISD Education Foundation at Ed Center Boeing inside the Community Engagement Office.
