Rain Forces Round One Of Border Olympics To End Early, UTEP Men’s Golf in 11th
LAREDO, Texas– For the second consecutive year, rain has forced the suspension of round one of the Border Olympics. All but four teams (UTSA, ULM, Louisiana, Rice) finished their first round and the now 36-hole tournament will resume at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, with the final round starting immediately after at the Laredo Country Club (Par 72/7,125 yards) in Laredo, Texas.
The Miners finished the shortened round one in 11th place with a 2-under 288 showing, while tourney host Houston leads the field at 11-under 278.
Senior Frederik Dreier is leading the Miners after a solid first round showing, firing 3-under 69 for a share of 5th place. Aaron Terrazas came in next for the Miners after shooting even-par 72, putting him in a eight-way tie for 38th. Charles Corner was one stroke behind, but also in a tie for 49th, shooting 1-over 73. Nicklas Pihl and Prescott Mann followed, both firing 2-over 74.
Miner individual Andreas Sorensen rounded out the Miners for round one, shooting 3-over 75.
