Rusk Elementary students, staff and alumni celebrate school’s 100th

Rusk Elementary School is turning 100 years old this year and the students and staff of the Central El Paso campus is opening its doors to alumni and supporters who want to take part in the Centennial Celebration.

The school, named after Republic of Texas hero and U.S. Senator Thomas Jefferson Rusk, will have a Centennial Assembly and Campus Tour at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5, at the school, 3601 N. Copia.

Students are expected to lead the celebrations, which include a slideshow with historic pictures, a Rusk through the Decades dance number, Trivia about Rusk, a birthday cake and a balloon release to close the ceremony.

The public ceremony will be preceded by an alumni luncheon for former students and staff members.
