SkySox Stymie Chihuahuas’ Rally TWICE, Take Four-Hour Game 15-11

The El Paso Chihuahuas had a five-run comeback and a four-run comeback Tuesday but lost a wild game to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 15-11.

The Chihuahuas trailed 5-0 before scoring three runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth to go ahead. Colorado Springs brought in six in the seventh, the most runs allowed in an inning this season by El Paso.

Behind 11-7 in the bottom of the eighth, the Chihuahuas stormed back to tie the game again on an RBI single by Collin Cowgill and a three-run double off the right field wall by Tony Cruz.

Colorado Springs reliever Wei-Chung Wang hit a two-out, two-strike RBI single for Colorado Springs in the ninth to break the 11-11 tie. It was Wang’s first professional RBI. Brett Phillips’ second home run of the game provided three insurance runs in the top of the ninth.

Jabari Blash walked four times, one base on balls short of the PCL single-game record, and went 2-for-2 for El Paso. Cowgill, Cruz and Jose Pirela had two hits each for El Paso.

At four hours and five minutes, it was the longest nine-inning game in team history.
