The UTEP women’s tennis team looks to get back in the winning column this weekend when it travels to face Incarnate Word, Texas State and Conference USA opponent UTSA. Those matches will run Thursday through Saturday, respectively, and are all set for 10 a.m., MT.
UTEP is currently 7-7 overall and 1-1 in C-USA as it picked up a 4-3 victory over Florida Atlantic on Tuesday (3/8) but fell to Florida Gulf Coast (3-4) on Wednesday (3/9) and to No. 57 Florida International (0-4) on Friday (3/11).
The Orange and Blue’s first match-up will be against Incarnate Word on Thursday at the Clarence Mabry Tennis Center. The Cardinals enter Thursday’s match with a record of 2-11 and 0-2 in the Southland Conference. This will be the first meeting between UTEP and UIW.
Friday’s match will be played against Texas State at the Bobcat Tennis Complex. Texas State has an overall record of 4-8 overall and 0-1 in Sun Belt Conference action. The last meeting between the teams was in 2014, where Texas State defeated UTEP 5-2. A match-up between the two schools was scheduled for Mar. 30, 2015 but it was cancelled due to rain.
The Miners will round up the weekend on Saturday against the UTSA Roadrunners. UTEP holds a 4-3 mark in the all-time ledger against UTSA (7-8, 0-0 C-USA). The teams last competed on Apr. 16, 2015 in the first round of the C-USA Championship, where UTSA defeated UTEP 2-4.
