UTEP Tennis Hosts Iowa State Friday

Due to officials’ availability, the UTEP tennis team’s match against Iowa State has been rescheduled to Friday, March 17, at the El Paso Tennis and Swim Club. First serve against the Cyclones is 11 a.m. MT.

Fans are asked to wear Orange for “Orange Fever Day,” and free pizza and popcorn will be available while supplies last.

The Miners will look to grab their first win at home and improve on a 4-9 record.  The Miners dropped their home opener in a down-to-the-wire match against Houston on Feb.11. The Cougars slipped past the Miners 4-3.

Riding a 10-match win streak, Iowa State will face NM State on Wednesday before meeting the Miners on Saturday. The Cyclones have registered wins over West Virginia and Villanova, while their only losses came at the hands of Temple and Iowa.  Intercollegiate Tennis Association No. 100 ranked singles player Samantha Budai has helped lead the the Cyclones’ charge, building up a 7-2 record at the top spot as well as a 10-4 doubles record with partner Maty Cancini.

It will be the first meeting between the two teams since UTEP’s 4-3 victory on January 17, 2016 on the Cyclones’ home court.

Match updates will be posted on the team’s Twitter page (@UTEPWTennis).
