UTEP’s Wilson Receives Third Athlete of Week Honor This Season

Irving, Texas – Nickevea Wilson was named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. She is the only athlete in C-USA, male or female, to be recognized three times this year.

Wilson recorded the ninth-longest triple jump in the nation at the Don Kirby Invitational on her way to second-place showing. The Jamaican launched herself 13.22m (43-4.50) on her way to setting a personal best and recording the fourth-best jump in school history.

The Kingston, Jamaica, native was on the cutline for a berth at nationals with her previous season-best 12.96m to rank 15th in the nation.

But with her jump of 13.22, it should solidify her spot at the NCAA Championships. Her jump is the farthest in C-USA.
