2020 El Paso Comic Con cancelled due to COIVD-19; Will return in 2021

After postponing the event in April, officials with the El Paso Comic Con announced Tuesday morning that the event would be cancelled for 2020, due to the continued rise in COVID-19.

Via a news release, organizers shared that with a potential for more than 10,ooo attendees, the recent spikes in cases, and the restrictions on large gatherings and with consultation with city officials, the decision was made to cancel the October 2nd thru 4th event.

Details on tickets, booths and refunds are below; for more information, visit the EPCON Facebook page or Website.

Below is the entire release from EPCON:

We have been looking forward to seeing you all at our next convention; unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait just a bit longer. The uncertainty and hardship brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has affected how we go about our daily lives.

We have been carefully evaluating the current health and safety status of going forward with El Paso Comic Con 2020 with an expected attendance of over 10,000 attendees. In light of the recent spikes in cases in the state of Texas, mandatory shutdowns and restrictions on mass gatherings, and after consulting with the El Paso Convention Center and City of El Paso officials, we have decided to cancel our October 2-4, 2020 convention.

We feel very strongly that the health and safety of our staff, guests, and attendees are of the utmost concern to us. We continue to wish for the safety and health of all our EPCON family. We are looking forward to the return of El Paso Comic Con April 15-18, 2021 at the El Paso Convention Center in Downtown El Paso, Texas.

If you have already purchased passes for our 2020 event you can have them automatically transfer to the 2021 dates. You won’t need to do a thing. If you are unable to make the 2021 dates you will have 30 days to receive a refund for those passes.

We are also arranging with Ticketmaster to allow you to use the value of your 2020 ticket applied toward a higher value ticket. There are some other really cool things in the works for ticket packages with payment plans. More info on that as the details are ironed out.

Those who have purchased booth space for the 2020 event will have their booth or table purchases automatically transferred to the 2021 dates. They will receive additional information by email. As a small family/locally owned business, we understand our success is because of you.

Know that we appreciate your ongoing support and commitment to El Paso Comic Con and cannot express enough our gratitude for your patience and understanding during these most trying of times. We thank you all for your ongoing dedication and support! We missed seeing everyone this past April and we’ll miss seeing you all in October.

We promise you the most awesomely epic show yet in 2021 when we can celebrate our fandoms together again! Stay safe, healthy, and kind.

Sincerely, El Paso Comic Con Staff
