The El Paso Chihuahuas hit three home runs in their 11-3 win over the Sacramento River Cats Sunday night at Southwest University Park.
El Paso starter Daniel McCutchen pitched six shutout innings and did not allow any earned runs, one night after starter Bryan Rodriguez pitched seven shutout innings.
Ahead 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth inning, the Chihuahuas sent nine batters to the plate and scored five times to take a 7-1 lead. The rally included a three-run homer by Renfroe, his 14th homer of the season, an RBI single by Carlos Asuaje and three Sacramento errors.
Renfroe went 3-for-5 with five RBIs. Ryan Schimpf went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. It was Schimpf’s 15th home run of the year and fifth in his last eight games.
Schimpf is now second in the Pacific Coast League in homers, trailing only Reno’s Peter O’Brien (17).
The Chihuahuas split the four-game series with the River Cats and now have six wins in eight tries against Sacramento in 2016.
