49th Annual Las Artistas Art and Fine Crafts Show Set for Weekend

49th Annual Las Artistas Art and Fine Crafts Show Set for Weekend

The local non-profit organization Las Artistas will hold a two-day event on November 17 and 18 at El Paso’s historic EPIC Railyard Event Center.

The general public will be able to see and purchase high-quality fine art and crafts on display – all of which are original and handmade.

“We have many new exhibitors participating this year,” says Laura Caballero, the show’s chair. “Together with some of our more popular and established artists, this new group of exhibitors will guarantee more variety than ever before. This year we will be featuring students from UTEP’s Painting Program for the first time, alongside student artists from the Metals and Ceramics Programs.”

Now in its 49th year, this popular cultural event attracts artists and craftspeople from all over the country. The pre-Thanksgiving shopping event features professional artists and artisans as well as emerging artists, including students of The University of Texas at El Paso Department of Art.

“This year’s show participants are a fine representation of the talent of our area artists,” says Las Artistas Board President, Jorge Calleja. “From professional artists to emerging ones, covering virtually every visual art form, attendees will have the chance to purchase superb quality pieces just in time for the holidays.”

Attendees will be able to experience and purchase handcrafted art in many forms, such as:

• Ceramics
• Fiber Art
• Jewelry
• Mixed Media
• Paintings
• Wood Pieces
• Other Types of Art

There will be fine art and craft demonstrations as well as creative cuisine from popular food trucks.

Las Artistas is “committed to promoting and supporting Arts Education by providing scholarships and creating a space within the annual art show for student artists to participate.”

This will be the second year that the show will feature a section called “Next Generation” that will feature artists under the age of 18. This is part of the non-profit organization’s effort to build a thriving arts community in the El Paso and Southern New Mexico area.

The El Paso non-profit was founded in 1970 with a mission to provide arts education opportunities and to promote an appreciation for fine arts in El Paso and southern New Mexico.

Free valet parking will be available at the EPIC Railyard Events Center, located at 2201 East Mills Avenue. Admission is $5 per person, with children age 17 and under will be admitted free.
