Eastwood Robotics‘ 4th annual Girl Powered conference returns this week, just in time for International Day of the Girl on October 11th.
“We were blessed to have hosted the largest Girl Powered events in the world for the last 3 years,” officials shared via an emailed news release. “With over 350 girls year 1, over 550 girls year 2, and a whopping 600+ on year 3 from all of El Paso….the goal of Girl Powered is to engage more girls in the STEM/Robotics fields.”
Girls from 4th grade to 12th grade from all over the El Paso area – including Juarez and New Mexico – will be invited to attend this yearly event.
Last year, Eastwood High School hosted the biggest Girl Powered Event in the world. Eastwood Robotics was recognized at the Worlds Robotics Competitions for this remarkable achievement.
In a Report from the Girl Scout Research Institute, “Studies show that girls lose interest in math and science during middle school, and STEM interest for girls is low, compared to boys.”
Ahead of Friday’s event, organizers are inviting businesses or individuals to attend and present, speak, or donating to the conference. Organizers add they plan on having 20-30 presentation booths along with 5 + workshops.
