55th Annual Southwest Liturgical Conference returns to El Paso

The Sun City will again play host for a week-long liturgical celebration, with participants from all across the region expected to attend.

The Southwest Liturgical Conference (SWLC) offers educational programs and regional conferences designed to stimulate the people of God to that “full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy.”

One of the principal ways the SWLC has contributed to the church’s vision is through the sponsorship of an Annual Study Week. This four-day Study Week is held in January each year; dioceses and archdioceses of the region take their turn in hosting the study week.

In its fifty year history, the study week has been hosted in almost every diocese of the region and has addressed a wide range of topics, making it the longest- running and one of the most widely-respected liturgical conferences in the nation.

The Southwest Liturgical Conference (SWLC) is a liturgical organization comprising the twenty-eight Roman Catholic Dioceses of Region X and Region XIII of the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions (FDLC) in the states of Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Wyoming.

The El Paso diocese last hosted this conference in 1979.

Location: El Paso Convention Center

Date: January 18-21, 2017

Start time on the 18th is 5pm, rest of the days is a 8am start time
