EPWU Crews continue to repair 24″ line damaged on Monday

El Paso Water Utilities (EPWU) Crews continue to work to repair a water line that was damaged by private work crews on Monday.

Mesa Street, between North Desert Boulevard and Remcon Circle, will be down to one-lane in each direction for at least the remainder of the week and possibly longer as El Paso Water Utilities (EPWU) makes road repairs caused by a water main break on Monday.

Commuters are advised to use other major thoroughfares and alternative routes as traffic volume will be higher than usual due to lane closures.

EPWU is working in coordination with Texas Department of Transportation on traffic detours to ensure repairs are done as quickly and safely as possible.

On Monday at 3:15 pm, a contractor installing an 8-inch fuel line at the 7500 block of Mesa came in contact with a 24-inch water line causing the break. EPWU has been working around the clock to make repairs to the water line.

Two inside lanes in each direction along Mesa will remain closed until paving and repairs are complete. Water service has not been interrupted during repairs.
