Martin Luther King, Jr Day closures & schedules

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many offices and other businesses will be closed. What follows is a partial list.

City of El Paso:

City Hall and City department administrative offices will be closed on Monday, January 18. City Hall and administrative offices will resume regular business hours at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 19.

• El Paso Public Libraries

• El Paso Senior Centers

• Greater El Paso Landfill

• Citizen Collection Stations

• Municipal Court and bond

• Parks and Recreation pre-school and daycare programs

• Public Health

OPEN

• Sun Metro’s regular (fixed route) and LIFT (paratransit) service operate on normal schedule

• Animal Services Shelter, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• El Paso Zoo

• Indoor and outdoor aquatic centers and pools

• Recreation Centers: o Armijo o Galatzan o Gary del Palacio o Leona F. Washington o Martin Robbins o Pavo Real o Veterans

*Residential trash and recycling collections are not impacted by the holiday. Trash and recyclables are normally not collected on Mondays.

El Paso County

The El Paso County Courthouse will be closed on Monday, January 18, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, January 19.

Dona Ana County

Most Dona Ana County offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, to allow employees to observe the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday. Emergency services and law enforcement in the field will not be affected, but the administrative offices of the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Department will be closed. Saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints will be conducted in the field.

UTEP

EPCC

El Paso Community College (EPCC) will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2016 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. This holiday coincides with the beginning of the spring 2016 semester. The semester begins on Sunday, January 17, 2016 for students enrolled in Sunday classes. The rest of the student body’s first day of classes is Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

EPISD, YISD, SISD, Canutillo ISD, Clint ISD, Fabens ISD, San Eli ISD, Tornillo ISD

Sun Metro

Sun Metro’s fixed route and LIFT, paratransit, services will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 18. Sun Metro’s customer service line, 212-3333, will be available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sun Metro ticket offices also will be open.

The administrative offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observation of the holiday, returning to a regular schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
