The El Paso Pro-Musica Chamber Music Festival continues this week with the 10th Anniversary Collaboration with the Festival and the El Paso Symphony Orchestra.
Each year, a guest artist from the EPPM Chamber Music Festival is featured with the Symphony Orchestra and in a solo recital Concert with El Paso Pro-Musica. This year, Artistic Director and World Renowned Cellist Zuill Bailey will performing “Tales of Hemingway,” a cello concerto written for him by Grammy Award winning composer Michael Daugherty.
The new composition was inspired by novels by Ernest Hemingway, including “The Old Man and the Sea,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” and “The Sun Also Rises.” The performances are set for Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23 at the Plaza Theater. For tickets, contact Ticketmaster or 915-833-9400.
On Sunday, January 24, Zuill Bailey will present a special recital celebrating his #1 CD of the Bach Cello Suites and a salute to some incredible composers including Chopin and Paganini. Composer Dominic Dousa from the UTEP Department of Music will accompany Bailey in what promises to be an entertaining, insightful afternoon of music.
The matinee concert is set for 3:00 p.m.at the Church of St. Clement on Campbell and Montana.
