As deadline approaches, Elections Department reminds residents to register to vote

With just a little over a week left to register to vote, officials at the El Paso County Elections Department reminds residents to get registered now.

Just over 400,000 residents of El Paso County are registered to vote ahead of the March Primary Election, on March 1st. Early voting starts on Tuesday, February 16, and runs through Friday, February 26.

In addition to the new website, elections officials have launched a new hashtag – #govoteep – to remind residents of the importance of voting. Officials are also touting their new Facebook page as another outlet for election-related news.

Monday, February 1, 2016
Last day to register to vote.

Tuesday, February 16, 2016
First day of early voting. (First business day after Presidents’ Day.)

Friday, February 19, 2016
Last day to apply for a ballot by mail (Received, not postmarked).
(NEW LAW: Eleventh day before election day; regular ABBM and FPCA)

Friday, February 26, 2016
Last day of early voting.

Election day, Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. (unless overseas deadline applies). Last day to receive a ballot by mail.
