UTEP’s Creative Writing Chair Wins Chapbook Contest

UTEP Associate Professor Lex Williford has been named the winner of the Rose Metal Press 10th annual Chapbook Contest.

Williford’s entry, “Superman on the Roof,” was selected from a field of 120 submissions. Rose Metal Press will publish the chapbook in August 2016.

Williford is the chair of the Department of Creative Writing at UTEP.

Lex Williford holds an MFA from the University of Arkansas and has taught in the writing programs at Southern Illinois University, the University of Alabama and the University of Missouri, St. Louis. His book, Macauley’s Thumb, was co-winner of the 1993 Iowa School of Letters Award for Short Fiction.

Rose Metal Press, Inc. is an independent, nonprofit publisher of hybrid genres specializing in the publication of short short, flash, and micro-fiction; prose poetry; novels-in-verse or book-length linked narrative poems; and other literary works that move beyond the traditional genres of poetry, fiction, and essay to find new forms of expression.
