Academy Sports+Outdoors Sun Bowl Soccer Tournament seeks Volunteers

With only a week to go before the 28+ soccer teams arrive, the  Academy Sports + Outdoors Sun Bowl International Soccer tournament is looking for a few more volunteers.

The 17th annual tournament, scheduled for June 3-5, will host teams from across the region at the Westside Sports Complex on 201 Isela Rubalcava. Boys’ and girls’ teams consisting of specified age groups participate in the tournament every year.

Officials with the tournament say, “Your volunteerism will not only add to the operations of the tournament but it makes our city look great to the now over 28 out of town soccer teams who are signed up to visit our fine city.”

Those interested in volunteering can do so via THIS LINK; once signed up, it will allow volunteers to see how many volunteers are still needed.  Officials say they need about 75 volunteers to run the tournament efficiently, and those volunteers need to be at least 18 years old.

The tournament is sanctioned by STYSA (South Texas Youth Soccer Association).

This is an unrestricted tournament that is open to all Federation affiliated participants with youth non-competitive and competitive teams.  Categories are: non-competitive coed U6 & U8; non-competitive & competitive coed U9: non-competitive & competitive boys & girls U10; competitive boys U11 – U19, competitive girls U12, U14 & U19.
