City Council has given the green light – or whatever color is preferred – to organizations looking to commemorate civic or community-wide significant events by customizing the light colors on the Airway and I-10 public art piece.
“Much like the Star on the Mountain, the public art at Airway and I-10 has become an important part of El Paso’s skyline. We look forward to working with community organizations to help them recognize holidays or honor groups like our first responders,” said Museums and Cultural Affairs Department Public Art Supervisor Aidee Cosme.
The Museums and Cultural Affairs Department developed a set of requirements for community organizations who want to apply for illumination with specific colors.
Up to 12 opportunities a calendar year are available for organizations to request the color of lights on the art piece designed by Vicki Scuri.
Organizations interested in applying can click on the Public Art tab at www.elpasoartsandculture.org.
