Amor por Juarez launches COVID-19 Artist Relief Fund

Amor por Juarez officials announced Monday the launch of the COVID-19 Artist Relief Fund, which will support immediate relief for artists living in the Paso del Norte region.

“Artists are among the most vulnerable in our community, with many living performance to performance and commission to commission.,” Amor official explaine.

“It is the aim of Amor por Juarez to mitigate the continued impact of the outbreak on artists living in the Paso del Norte region, particularly financial losses incurred due to the spread of COVID-19 and the social restriction measures implemented to contain the spread of the virus.”

Officials say that the fund will provide up to $500 in assistance to artists experiencing loss of income due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

“Coronavirus has impacted our lives immeasurably since its outbreak in February 2020, and shows no signs of relenting during the Summer and Fall months,” officials added. “As some industries are beginning to return to a semblance of normalcy, many others, such as concerts, outdoor performances, Farmer’s Markets, and gallery openings, are still struggling.”

Over the past ten years, Amor por Juarez has worked to foster cultural and artistic development by supporting arts of all disciplines, from creation to execution to promoting artists within the community.

“The COVID-19 pandemic marks an unprecedented time in our history, affecting millions around the world and creating a challenge that will require our best efforts to overcome,” officials concluded.
