FORT WORTH – Amoret McCartney produced a career-high 1153 aggregate to lead the Miners (4581) against No. 1 TCU (4659) at the TCU Rifle Range on Saturday morning.
“This match the team was real focused and intense,” Head coach Austin Litherland said.” “We just need to continue this intensity and apply it to our practices. We will go in with a solid game plan for our first home match.”
McCartney locked in a career-best aggregate that was 12 points better than her previous. The freshman accomplished this with her best outings to date in smallbore (575) and air rifle (578).
Jonna Warnken paced UTEP in air rifle with a score of 579, and turned in a career-best aggregate (1150) as well. She also improved on her best smallbore score by 10 points, shooting a 571 in smallbore in Fort Worth.
Morgahn Warner had the third-highest aggregate (1148) on the squad, followed by Samantha Miller (1130) and Jennie Windle (1124)
Next up, the Miners will compete at home against Ohio State next Saturday, November 9.
