Amusan Garners Third C-USA Athlete of the Week Award

Tobi Amusan finished the indoor regular season earning her third Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week award the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.

The hurdler tied the UTEP school record previously held by Janice Jackson (2014) after clocking in a time of 7.98 in the 60m hurdles at the Don Kirby Invitational. Amusan rates second nationally and first in C-USA in the event.

This is Amusan’s third C-USA honor of the season, after claiming the field athlete of the week last week.

The sophomore is ranked first in C-USA in the 200m (18th in the nation), 60m hurdles (second) and the long jump (34th).

Amusan will look to carry her momentum into this weekend as the team travels to Birmingham Ala. on Feb. 18-19 for the C-USA Indoor Championship.
