Animal Services Achieves Highest Monthly Save-Rate

Officials with El Paso Animal Services announced Wednesday that they reached a milestone in March, achieving their highest monthly save-rate in department history.

Last month, Animal Services saved 92.53% of the more than 2,400 animals that entered the Animal Services Center in March.

This is the fourth month of reaching a 90% or higher live-release rate as the department nears its “no-kill” goal.

“Animal Services would like to thank the community for their continued support, and encourage everyone to be involved in the City of El Paso’s mission to become a “no-kill” city,” Animal Services officials shared via a news release.

“To support this mission, the community can help by adopting, fostering, volunteering, and donating, as well as ensuring all owned pets are up-to-date on their vaccinations, have a microchip and are spayed or neutered.”

Officials added that the spring and summer months are the most challenging, as those months have historically been the peak intake season. This means more animals will enter the Animal Services Center during this period creating a greater need for the community’s help.
