Animal Services to Close Shelter next Wednesday for Software Upgrade

The Department of Animal Services continues to improve operations at the Animal Services Shelter and will soon install new software that will enhance and streamline shelter functions. In order to implement this upgrade in software, the shelter will need to close to the public on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

This one day closure will allow staff to fully transfer the shelter’s current inventory of animals into the new PetPoint software that will be installed. The software allows Animal Services to more easily manage an animal’s stay at the shelter from intake all the way to adoption.

In addition, the software will provide Animal Services with robust, comprehensive data.

The one day closure will not affect the holding periods of animals being held at the shelter; time frames will be extended one day to reflect this closure. The shelter will reopen for normal business at 10 a.m. on June 23.
