The City of El Paso’s Animal Services Shelter is happy to announce that the shelter has broken their monthly adoption record during the month of July.
While summer usually means high intake for animal welfare organizations, the Animal Services Shelter met that challenge with ongoing events in order to find homes for the hundreds of animals at the shelter.
With promotions like the “Fixed and Free” adoption special, and the one day “Clear the Shelters” event, Animal Services was able to adopt out 724 dogs, cats and other animals in July 2016, a record high from the previous monthly adoption record of about 600.
This brings the Animal Services Shelter to a total of 3,674 adoptions for the year.
Animal Adoptions by Month
January – 457
February – 444
March – 443
April – 549
May – 616
June – 441
July – 724
Despite this milestone, Animal Services is not letting up on their adoption promotions. On August 1, the shelter began the final adoption event of the summer season, “The Dog (and Cat) Days of Summer,” which offers reduced adoption fees of $30 for the entire month of August.
The efforts and services of the Animal Services Shelter support the City of El Paso’s strategic goal to nurture and promote a healthy, sustainable community.
