Animal Services Shatters Adoption Fiesta Goal, 290+ Animals Adopted

The City of El Paso Department of Animal Services is proud to announce that its Cinco de Mayo Adoption Fiesta has resulted in 291 pet adoptions.

This overwhelming show of support from the El Paso community allowed the shelter to easily surpass its initial goal of 100 pet adoptions during the five day period of the Adoption Fiesta.

“To give you an idea on how big of an accomplishment this is, the Animal Services Shelter adopts around 400 animals a month,” said Kurt Fenstermacher, Interim Animal Services Director.  “You can imagine how excited we are at the animal shelter to know that we can get close to our monthly adoption rate in just five days by saving 291 animals with one adoption promotion.”

Animal Services is looking to continue its momentum during the upcoming summer months which tends to be its busiest period.

With more than 100 animals coming in daily and kennels at capacity during the summer, Animal Services will be hosting several “Clear the Kennels” promotions in the coming months. To find out more about upcoming adoption events, the public is encouraged to like the Animal Services Facebook Page.

The efforts and services of the Animal Services Shelter support the City of El Paso’s strategic goal to nurture and promote a healthy, sustainable community. For more information, visit Animal Services or contact us at (915) 842-1000
