Annual International Women’s Business Symposium: “Dancing Backwards in High Heels” returns

The Women’s Business Border Center, a partnership of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Small Business Administration, announced the return of their signature event: 17th Annual International Women’s Business Symposium: “Dancing Backwards in High Heels”

Organizers share that this year’s event – themed – “Your Business Playbook in a Virtual World” – is set to feature powerhouse women from across the world such as Kelly Tomlin, CEO of El Paso Electric, to Blanca Trevino, President and CEO of Softtek, Mexico’s leading Tech and Communications Company.

“These women, among other high caliber women will be speaking to our audience, virtually, about how they are dominating in their business industries; how they overcame challenges; and their road to success,” organizers said. “Additionally, our Setting New Heights, Paradigm, Survive and Thrive, and Cutting Edge Awards will be bestowed upon leaders from our local community who have managed to keep their businesses operational and successful, even through the most challenging times that business has faced in over a century.”

The center has also joined forces with The Texas Commission for Women to host the first ever Latina Pitch Competition. Ten women entrepreneurs will be competing for the three grand prizes valued at over $9,000, in both cash prizes and business services.

“This virtual event will also feature “on demand amenities” to include a Self Defense Class conducted by former Hollywood stuntwoman Rebecca Ahn and a Virtual Baking Class taught by Ana Dominguez, EPCC Culinary Arts Graduate, and winner of the $10,000 Netflix Sugar Rush Championship,” organizers added.

This event is virtual and will take place on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Friday, June 25, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
