Video+Story: Annual “Kidtona” Power Kar Racing Event set for March 17

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the annual “Kidtona” Power Kar Race.

This year’s race is set for at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, in the parking lot of Marty Robbins Park located at 11600 Vista Del Sol Drive

The event features an obstacle course designed for separate age groups of children from 4 to 9 years old. There will be qualifying heats along with championship races.

Each age group is divided into two categories, modified and non-modified. The non-modified races have a 12-volt battery limit, while the modified races give parents the option to alter battery power to the child’s power wheels’ car above the 12-volt battery limit.

Space is limited to 20 cars per age group.  Drivers must bring own helmet (mandatory), eye & glove wear is optional.

The deadline for participants to register is March 12, with a cost of $10 per vehicle. Vendor booths are also available for $45, while food booths are available for $65.
