Annual NorthEaster Parade Set for Saturday Morning

The 38th Annual NorthEaster Parade, once again hosted by the Transmountain Optimists, will make its way through beautiful Northeast El Paso Saturday Morning.

Scheduled to start at 10am at Magoffin Middle School and make its way north along Diana Drive.

The annual parade brings hundreds of participants and thousands of spectators to the Northeast side of town to experience the warmth and friendship of those involved.

According to the parade’s official website, the parade was first held in 1978 and was “only a small part of the Northeast World Jubilee (NWJ) sponsored by the Transmountain Optimists (TMO) which ran from September 29 to October 2, 1978.”

The first parade started at Sunrise Shopping Center and ended at Northpark Mall and featured about thirty parade entrants.  In addition to the parade, both shopping centers had events and sales, as well “an annual Northeast Prayer Breakfast, whose committee selected a ‘Person of the Year’ and a ‘Family of the Year’, based upon their contributions to their NE community.”

For more information on the parade, you can visit their FACEBOOK page or the parade’s WEBSITE.
