Officials with the New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo announced the return of the film ‘Apollo 11: First Steps’ to the New Horizons Dome Theater and Planetarium.
The New Horizons Dome Theater has been experiencing technical issues with its projection system, but a loaner projector has been installed that allows the theater to show large format films.
“The projectors that were in the theater have been sent back to Digital Projection, the company that makes them, for diagnostics and repair. In the meanwhile, we’re pleased to be able to show Apollo 11 along with the star shows,” said theater director Dave Dooling.
This popular giant screen film celebrates the 50th anniversary of the lunar landing and features never-before-seen footage and audio recordings of the astronauts and Mission Control team.
The film will be showing at 10:15 am, 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, in rotation with a live Night Sky Star Show.
Visitors are encouraged to check the museum’s website or call the museum directly to check theater show times.
