Appointments for UMC’s second allotment of Covid-19 vaccine fill up in 12 minutes

Friday afternoon, officials with University Medical Center announced the availability of 5000 Covid-19 vaccine doses, and appointments were filled in a matter of minutes.

UMC’s registration, which opened at 12 noon and closed just 12 minutes later, was for Categories 1A and 1B: healthcare workers, first responders, anyone 65 and older or others with certain underlying health conditions

The appointments were for the first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and will take place at the El Paso County Coliseum by appointment only. Second-dose appointments will be scheduled for recipients after they receive your first dose.

UMC officials stress that walk-up vaccinations are not being accepted, all potential recipients must have an appointment scheduled online.

Hospital officials added they will also announce when the appointment registration portal reopens.  For more information on the procedure, visit the UMC website.
