Animal Services Hosts “Barktoberfest” and “Meowtoberfest” Event

The Department of Animal Services will be hosting its second “Clear the Shelters” type of adoption event this year in order to find homes for many, if not all, the hundreds of cats and dogs at the shelter.

Animal Services will be waiving adoption fees for its shelter pets during its two-day “Barktoberfest” and “Meowtoberfest” event in hopes of saving as many lives as possible.

The event will last throughout the weekend, offering residents two days to adopt a shelter pet of their own.

Free dog adoptions will be available only on Saturday, October 15 during “Barktoberfest,” while free cat adoptions will only be available on Sunday, October 16 during “Meowtoberfest.” Though fees will be waived, donations are welcomed. Shelter pets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

All adoptions will include the animal’s spay/neuter procedure, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip and city license.
