The price to see a movie on the world’s largest cinema screens just got lower. Premiere Cinema has announced new, reduced prices on IMAX movies, and just in time for all the summer blockbusters.
The new policy lowers prices for matinees, children and 2D films whereas previous pricing was fixed across all show times. Local Director Donavan Manchester said “The lower prices are effectively $3 higher than a normal movie now.”
“El Paso definitely loves its IMAX”, said Manchester. “People tell us they drive 50 or 60 miles sometimes just to see their movie in IMAX.”
Manchester added that while IMAX tickets have always cost slightly more than regular movies, it’s because IMAX offers a whole different experience and technology that isn’t duplicated anywhere else.
“It’s not just a bigger screen,” he says. “The movie is completely re-engineered for IMAX; brighter picture, sharper images, and better color contrast. The seats also recline and are super comfortable.”
Many Hollywood directors are also using IMAX cameras in the making of their movies these days, noting the only way to experience the results of the format is inIMAX.
The new pricing goes into effect Friday April 8 just ahead of Disney’s highly-anticipated live-action remake of “The Jungle Book” which opens on most IMAX screens the following week, with IMAX ticket prices as follows:
2D Matinee $10.00 3D Matinee $13.00
2D Child/Senior $9.75 3D Child/Senior $12.75
2D Adult $12.00 3D Adult $15.00
