File – El Paso notched its’ sixth win in its last seven games and 10th victory in its last 14 tries. The Chihuahuas have a .500 record for the first time since July 26.
The Salt Lake Bees defeated the El Paso Chihuahuas 11-1 Saturday to win their third consecutive game at Southwest University Park. Bees starting pitchers have combined for 12 shutout innings over the last two games.
It was not a lopsided game until late, as the Bees’ lead was only 3-0 entering the seventh inning.
After the first two batters were retired in the seventh, Salt Lake had nine consecutive hitters reach base and built up a double-digit lead. The seven-run seventh tied the season highs for Bees runs in an inning and Chihuahuas runs allowed in an inning.
El Paso’s lone run came on an RBI groundout by Jose Pirela in the bottom of the eighth. Dusty Coleman and Jabari Blash reached base twice in the loss for El Paso. Reliever Jason Jester tossed a scoreless top of the ninth inning for the Chihuahuas.
