The El Paso Chihuahuas led Salt Lake 5-1 in the eighth inning Friday but seven late runs gave the Bees an 8-5 victory. Salt Lake has won three of the first four games in the series.
San Diego Padres catcher Jorge Alfaro was El Paso’s designated hitter Friday and he went 1-for-4 with a 484-foot solo home run in the first inning. Chihuahuas third baseman Brandon Dixon went 2-for-4 with a double, his first Triple-A home run of the season and two RBIs.
The Chihuahuas didn’t allow any hits until Torii Hunter Jr.’s ground ball single with one out in the eighth inning. El Paso used eight pitchers in Friday’s bullpen day. Salt Lake second baseman Kean Wong was ejected in the top of the ninth inning after being tagged out at second base
