Bishop Mark J. Seitz of the Diocese of El Paso was elected Chairman-Elect of the Committee on Migration and Refugee Services for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
The Committee on Migration and Refugee Services works on behalf of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and sets broad policies and directions for the Church’s work in the area of migration. The Committee takes on the role of overseeing and providing guidance to Migration and Refugee services. Committee members and Migration and Refugee Services staff periodically testify before Congress and meet with Administration officials to advocate the bishops’ positions.
Bishop Seitz’s appointment takes office as President for the Committee on Migration and Refugee Services in November 2022
