On Monday, officials with J&K Present announced the addition of Blackbird Cantina and a neighboring three-unit condo complex to its portfolio of lifestyle entertainment venues.
“We’ve watched the growth and beautification of downtown El Paso in recent years, and we’re excited to be a part of those same efforts nearby in San Francisco Heights,” said Johnny Escalante, Co-Founder and Owner of J&K Present.
“El Pasoans want more choices when it comes to where they eat, drink, relax, and celebrate with others. With these new additions to our portfolio, we will be both expanding their entertainment options and improving the quality of life in this historic neighborhood.”
The new acquisitions will expand the company’s operations in El Paso’s San Francisco Heights neighborhood, where it already runs the neighborhood bar Later,Later.
San Francisco Heights is a two-block neighborhood adjacent to downtown El Paso and Sunset Heights. It is bordered on the south by Franklin Street, the pathway to the Chihuahuas ballpark.
Later,Later opened in San Francisco Heights 2016 and is located two blocks from the ballpark on Coldwell Street.
“Our goal is to continue to offer unique, quality experiences in El Paso,” said Kiki Cervantes, Co-Founder of J&K Present. “Whether that is through shared co-working spaces, bars, concerts or community partnerships, we want to be a part of the movement to make our city a better place for everyone.”
J&K Present plans to redevelop both new properties.
“Blackbird Cantina will continue operating under the same name through the end of the year. It will be renovated and opened under a new concept in 2020. The three-unit condo complex will be remodeled and available for lease in 2020,” officials added.
J&K Present owns other lifestyle enterprises in El Paso, including Lost&Found, a neighborhood bar in the Cincinnati entertainment district, one:one, a co-working office space in downtown El Paso, and a booking and entertainment company that hosts popular music concerts and festivals.
