Blue Sunday marks Child Abuse Prevention Month

Blue Sunday marks Child Abuse Prevention Month

With over 67,000 victims of child abuse statewide, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is partnering with Blue Sunday and Texas faith communities to raise awareness on preventing child abuse and neglect.

Here in the El Paso area, over 1700 children were confirmed victims of either child abuse or neglect.

“The goals of Blue Sunday in Texas is to have every person, regardless of faith to pray for victims of child abuse, as well as for families in need of help during this COVID-19 crisis and the communities that are supporting them,” Paul Zimmerman, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services shared via a news release.

This is also an opportunity for the faith community to learn ways they can assist children and families who are involved in the child welfare system.

For additional resources including print material, videos and ways the faith community can help children and their families, interested community members can visit their website.

If you suspect child abuse or neglect, contact the Texas Abuse Hotline at 800-252-5400 or report online at TxAbuseHotline.org.
