Promoters announced on Monday that Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, one of the most successful cutting-edge rap groups in music history, will be performing at the El Paso County Coliseum.
The Grammy Award-winning rap group will take the stage at 8 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at the Coliseum, located at 4100 East Paisano.
Behind flowing, meaningful lyrics and rapid-clip rhymes, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was one of the first rap groups to break into mainstream music, reaching the top of the charts, earning widespread acclaim and accolades.
Formed in the early 1990s by Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-N-Bone, the group was signed early and nurtured by the founder of Ruthless Records, the late Eazy-E.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s initial impact was astounding, starting with the 1994 EP release, “Creepin on Ah Come Up,” featuring “Foe tha Love of $,” which spent more than 70 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200 albums chart and sold more than four million units.
The group then released its debut LP, “E. 1999 Eternal,” with the smash hit, “Tha Crossroads,” which soared to No. 1, earned the group a Grammy Award, went double-platinum and made history when it tied the Beatles’ 32-year-old record for the fastest rising single on the pop charts (1964’s “Can’t Buy Me Love”).
Other albums followed, which included hits such as “Thuggish Ruggish Bone,” “1st of tha Month” and “Days of Our Livez,” among others.
Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at the El Paso County Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online.
