Border Art Residency fundraiser offers Gabaldon art and more

The Border Art Residency needs help furnishing its new studio and apartment space in El Paso. It’s offering unique Patrick Gabaldon prints in return for donations.

BAR, an annual residency program for visual artists, recently relocated from its longtime home at La Union, N.M., to a new studio and living space at 801 North Piedras.

The nonprofit needs to furnish the space and is offering signed, limited edition prints of BAR Star, a new piece by the El Paso artist and board member. It’s also offering a chance to be on its new Donor Wall and more to those who make tax-deductible donations to the residency.

Those who donate at the following levels will receive:

  • $75 or more— A signed, limited edition print of BAR Star, the latest creation from the noted El Paso artist and BAR board member.
  • $150 or more— A signed, limited edition BAR Star print and your name (or that of your choosing) on the Piedras space’s new Donor Wall.
  • $250 or more— A signed, limited edition print of BAR Star, you name on the Donor Wall, and a print of Gabaldon’s new piece Prickly Pear 2020 25.

BAR needs include furniture, pillows, sheets, mattress covers, and other household items.

Donations may be made online. Checks should be made out to the El Paso Community Foundation. Write “Border Art Residency” in the memo field, and mail it to the El Paso Community Foundation, P.O. Box 272, El Paso, TX, 79943.

BAR Star prints will be available for pickup or shipping in January. Donors will receive an email in advance. Shipping is $7, in addition to the donation.

The next resident artist will be announced Tuesday, December 15. The residency will begin in January 2021. The Border Art Residency is a supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation.
