Borderland residents will have the chance to taste over 60 different bourbons, whiskeys, and scotches this weekend at the Bourbon and  Whiskey Festival at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

“Bourbon & Whiskey at The Park has grown in popularity the last few years,” said Ethan Linder, Director of Marketing for Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino. “It’s the perfect event for people to taste premium spirits that they might not normally purchase,” Linder added. “This year we’ll also offer for purchase a very limited quantity of 10-year Old Rip Van Winkle, which has been selling on some websites for up to $1,000 a bottle.”

“We’re excited to have everyone come out to sip and savor a wide variety of quality adult beverages,” said Linder.  “It’s also going to be a great evening to socialize with friends while listening to some terrific local bands.”

The festivities take place Saturday, Nov. 16 from 5 to 10 p.m., inside the Turf Club & Franklin’s Lounge. The event is open to the public and will feature live music entertainment.

Live music during the festival will include performances by:

The sampling entrance fee of $20 includes a souvenir rocks glass and 10 sample tickets. Purchases can be made at the door. One-ounce samples of the Old Rip Van Winkle mentioned by Linder will be $15 and available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
