While the 14th annual Braden Aboud Run/Walk was sidelined by the current COVID-19 emergency, officials with the Braden Aboud Memorial Foundation have transitioned the event to a virtual celebration.
Officials share that on Sunday, May 3, 2020, the public is invited to B ACTIVE by engaging in physical fitness from home or in neighborhoods, while maintaining social distancing guidelines at all times.
The Foundation also hopes everyone will pull out their old Braden Aboud Run/Walk t-shirts, wear them proudly, and post photos and videos of themselves being healthy and active close to home.
“We decided a virtual event might be a cool way for people to show their strength around El Paso. We encourage everyone to take part this year and it’s so easy” said Cindi Aboud, Foundation Director. “With over 100,000 T-shirts somewhere in this community we hope everyone will help us pull this off.”
In anticipation of May 3rd, the Foundation would like to invite all youth and their families to engage with B FIT, which is a training program that can be used to prepare for any run/walk event.
A condensed version will be posted to the Foundation’s website and social media pages next week. B FIT is a great resource for PE teachers to use during this time of distance learning.

“We have been blessed to celebrate Braden’s life through the good work of the Foundation for so many years. His spirit is behind all of our fundraising and outreach,” added Aboud. “We know there are brighter days ahead, but for now we look forward to being together while we have to stay apart on May 3rd,” added Aboud.
The BSTRONG online shop recently opened. Merchandise such as water bottles, t-shirts and accessories are available for purchase and the Foundation will ship all over the country.
The Foundation also wishes to continue to support athletic teams and youth programs in the community through the BSTRONG Grants and Scholarships. For more information, click here.
