DALLAS – Chantoba Bright’s sophomore campaign is off to a shining start as she was named the Conference USA Female Field Athlete of the Week presented by Top of the World the league announced on Tuesday.
Bright won her first ever triple jump event, leaping out to a 12.98m mark at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on February 8. Her distance was ranked 20th nationally, while it ranked second in the conference.
The weekly indoor honor is Bright’s second of the season and third overall during her career.
She was named the indoor athlete of the week on January 28 following her first-place finish in the long jump (6.01m) at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational.

The Miners will return to the track and field on February 13-14 at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational hosted by New Mexico.
The C-USA Championships will follow on February 22-23 in Birmingham.
