DALLAS – UTEP track and field’s Maribel Caicedo notched a pair of victories on April 17 at the Roadrunner Invitational as the sophomore sensation was named the Conference USA Female Track Athlete of the Week by league officials on Wednesday.
Caicedo won her first 100-meter hurdles of the outdoor season and first since 2019 after clocking in a 13.51. Her time ranks no. 1 in C-USA and 62nd nationally.
The Guayaquil, Ecuador-born athlete also was part of the gold medal winning 4×100-meter relay team. The Miners recorded a time of 46.32 in their second relay victory of the season.
Caicedo and the Miners will compete at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open on Thursday, April 22 in Albuquerque hosted by New Mexico.
