Celebrating El Paso Pro-Musica with Amazing Concerts and Zuill Bailey’s 20th Anniversary

The month of April will be filled with celebrations for El Paso Pro-Musica. Grammy Award Winning Cellist Zuill Bailey celebrates his 20th year as the Artistic Director of El Paso Pro-Musica.

This month, the renowned cellist, who for 20 years has called El Paso “Home,” will also be celebrating his 50th birthday. This month’s celebrations kick off with  a concert on Saturday, April 16th at 7:30 p.m.at  UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall  with violinist Helen Kim and a performance where Zuill Bailey is reunited with pianist Awadagin Pratt on April 20, at 7:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church. Awadagin Pratt, the first American and African American to win the coveted Naumberg Piano Competition, performed with Zuill for his first Concert as Artistic Director in 2002. Awadagin and Zuill will also perform works from their Billboard Chart Topping CD, “Brahms.”

“It is hard to believe that time has flown by so quickly and I have been making music here for 20 years in a place that I call Home.” I am so thrilled to be a part of El Paso Pro-Musica and have great plans for our musical future.  During this exciting month, we will be celebrating our amazing community and all the support we have received over the years,  especially during the pandemic. This will be an amazing musical rally where our dreams of making music accessible to all are being realized,” Bailey said.
Zuill will be celebrating El Paso Pro-Musica and his birthday throughout the community, by engaging students through educational outreach at Schools at the Kelly Center for Hunger Relief, and for the “Bach’s Lunch Birthday Party,” at the El Paso Museum of Art on Friday, April 22 at Noon. The special event is Free and open to the public.
April 16- “Celebration,” with Helen Kim, violinist, Zuill Bailey, cellist and Dr. Dominic Dousa, pianist. – UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall-7:30 p.m.
April 20- “Reunited!”- Zuill Bailey and pianist Awadagin Pratt-  First Baptist Church-805 Montana Ave. – 7:30p.m.
April 22- Bach’s Lunch Birthday Party Celebrating Zuill- Noon- Free- El Paso Museum of Art.
