CFEP launches Volunteer Income Tax Assistance for 2021; New Drop-Off process highlighted

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program hosted by the Coalition for Family Economic Progress (CFEP) will host the VITA Season Virtual Kick-off on Thursday, January 28, 2021.

“VITA has reached thousands of families and individuals in the community with free tax preparation services to empower them with a brighter financial future. Every year, together with our outstanding partners and certified volunteers, this program helps bring in millions of dollars back to those in our region,” said Assistant Vice President of GECU Community Development Ruby Alvarez. “Our volunteers and partners are ready to serve the community again with quality service and a safe way to file.”

VITA’s tax assistance program provides free drop-off or online tax assistance to households with an annual income of $57,000 or less, and online tax assistance to those with an annual household income of $72,000 or less.

The community can feel secure dropping off tax documents from the safety of their vehicle at more than 20 locations throughout El Paso.

“Taxpayers will receive and sign their tax documents electronically,” organizers shared via a news release. “English and Spanish speaking VITA volunteers will be available.”

The VITA program has more than 20 different partners to provide the greater El Paso community with easy access to multiple VITA sites and volunteers.

An alliance of more than 20 private, public and non-profit organizations, the Coalition for Family Economic Progress (CFEP) have been dedicated to the economic empowerment of working families in the greater El Paso area since 2006.
