Chappell appointed principal at Irvin High School

The El Paso Independent School District announced last week that Ragen Garrett Chappell has been appointed as the new principal at Irvin High School effective July 1.

Chappell, the current principal at Nolan Richardson Middle School, will take the helm at Irvin after current principal MaryAnna Giba announced her retirement effective the end of the school year.

“EPISD thanks Ms. Giba for her years of service to Irvin High School and the children of the District. We wish her a wonderful retirement,” said Interim Superintendent Vince Sheffield.

Chappell has been principal at Richardson since 2017 and helped launch the school’s International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme at the campus.

She previously served as assistant principal and magnet coordinator at Chapin High School and taught and coached at Canyon Hills Middle School, Bowie High School and Transmountain Early College High School.

She has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia Southern University and two masters degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso, one in business administration and the other one in education administration.
